Razi university and faculty of agricultural science

Razi University began its activities in Bahman 1351 (January-February 1973) in Kermanshah, Iran, under the leadership of Abdolali Goya as the Faculty of Sciences. In 1353 (1974), this center was renamed Razi University.

The faculties of this university are as follows:

• Faculty of Physical Education
• Faculty of Chemistry
• Faculty of Sciences
• Faculty of Social Sciences
• Faculty of Engineering
• Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Engineering
• Faculty of Agriculture
• Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
• Faculty of Management and Accounting in Javanrud
• Faculty of Engineering in Islamabad-e-Gharb
• Faculty of Agriculture in Sonqor

The Department of Animal Science was established in 1991 (1370 in the Iranian calendar) at the Faculty of Agriculture with the launch of the undergraduate program. Later, in 1998 and 2006 (1377 and 1385), it received official approval to offer Master’s and Ph.D. programs, respectively.

The main goal of the Department of Animal Science is to train scientific personnel who are proficient in practical skills and meet the needs of both industrial and small-scale farms. To achieve this goal, the department has maintained extensive cooperation with the esteemed Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

Moreover, from the outset, the department has focused its graduate programs on solving issues and challenges facing the animal and poultry industry through the execution of applied theses. This has been made possible thanks to the presence of 15 experienced faculty members across various disciplines.

The Department of Animal Science admits students at the undergraduate, Master’s, and Ph.D. levels in the fields of animal and poultry nutrition, genetics and breeding, and animal physiology.
